The Marketing Sales Funnel, or the Reverse Funnel System, is probably one of the most genius concepts that ever came down the super highway in the world of Internet Marketing.

It’s based on the principle that consumers would enter your marketing funnel through several on and offline strategies and go through a “system” to become happy customers. Some of these strategies include the following:

To explain the concept one step further you can think about it this way. Your funnel will then become a sort of “pool party” of a wide variety of prospects that are going to see what you have to offer.
In the original model, the prospect would enter the large end of the funnel and go through a process that looked something like this:
- Marketing Campaigns
- Referral or Advocate (*Well talk more about this in a minute)
- Happy Customer (This happy customer becomes a part of your autoresponder system and you continue to market to them to increase your profits).
- Repeat the process over again and again
The reverse funnel system is based on the principal that your prospect will fall through your marketing funnel dropping out the other end as a customer who knows you, likes you, and trusts you. This will happen because the whole time they’re in your funnel they will enjoy what you have to offer.
However, if there’s one thing you can be sure of when you’re marketing on the Internet is that the only consistency is the inevitability of change. Every day there are new systems in place and new outlets and possibilities.
The rising popularity of social media and social networking has created the necessity to take the marketing funnel one level deeper and create a category for your advocates. (This is what I was referring to when I said I would speak more about this step in a minute).
Your happy customer will become your greatest asset. Why, you might ask?
People trust other people. If I know someone who recommends a movie or a restaurant AND I know, like and trust that person, you can bet I’ll be in the line to get in. It’s so much more powerful than a recommendation coming from a stranger on the Internet that you really don’t know if the picture is an accurate depiction of them or not.
This changes the whole dynamics of the Internet and has opened up a whole new world of possibility.
This customer becomes YOUR advocate, thereby actually assisting in the process of bringing more customers into the top of your marketing funnel to begin the process themselves.
This will create a synergy that will begin to extend to others falling in line, and so on and so on….
The more customers you have singing your praises on the social networking scene, the better your efforts will pay off.
The old model used to end with keeping the prospect in your pipeline until they would “Buy, Die or Opt Out.”
Today, the bars have been lifted and your customers and prospect are given their virtual freedom to spread their wings and fly.
